Hampstead Hive Member Spotlight - Seema Lalloo
Tell us about your business..
New End PR is an independent Public Relations business that helps businesses to build trusted relationships with their stakeholders including media (print, online and broadcast), influencers, customers and prospects.
What is your greatest business achievment so far?
I’ve handled many high profile campaigns for prominent people/brands but the most special wins for me have been when my profile-raising work has helped to raise vital funds for charities and not-for-profit organisations.
What do you want to achieve next?
I’ve been doing a lot on my own so this year I want to focus on building a team to support my expanding business.
What one piece of advice would you like to offer someone thinking of entering into your field?
PR is a competitive, challenging career choice that is not for the faint hearted. It requires determination and thick skin. You must be a strategist as you need to be at the forefront of creating news and trends.
Also be prepared for long and unpredictable hours - you can wake up in the morning having planned your whole day only for an incident to occur that changes everything. This happened when I was handling the PR for The Cutty Sark Trust. I was woken early in the morning with the news that the clipper had caught fire. Working with the in-house team, we focused on controlling the rapidly developing media narrative. As images of the iconic ship on fire were beamed around the world, the PR was vital in helping to generate the funds needed for the costly restoration.
What is your favourite aspect about working in the local area?
Living and working in Hampstead village means that I get to enjoy the soothing views of Hampstead Heath from my home office. Another perk is being able to have lunch meetings with clients in the plethora of cute cafes, top-notch restaurants and pubs that the village has to offer. I also love the friendly and relaxed village vibe.
What encouraged you to join Hampstead Hive and what has your experience within the Hivebeen like so far?
I wanted to join Hampstead Hive to build connections and collaborate with local like-minded business people. Since joining, I have had the privilege to work with a wide variety of businesses and to meet the inspirational and supportive people behind them. Along the way, I’ve made some lovely friends too.
Where can we go to find out more about your business/access your services?
