Hampstead Hive Member Spotlight - Monica Harrington

Tell us about your business..

I’m a industry-recognised lingerie stylist and brand consultant with over 30 years’ experience. I deliver brand and product consultancy, shoot styling, bra-fit training and workshops for various clients from adidas and Triumph to Calvin Klein and Victoria’s Secret.

I offer a personal styling service offering a range of lingerie and sportswear styling for everyday and special occasions. These sessions are designed to introduce you to a selection of pieces that make you feel fabulous. I also specialise in fitting women post-surgery due to breast cancer, fitting breast prosthesis and advising women post reconstruction. I’m here to help all women working with every shape and size around the world.

There’s no hang-up too deep or circumstance so unusual that we can’t tackle it together. I am not connected to any one brand and there is no obligation to buy anything, and I work across all budgets.

What is your greatest business achievment so far?

In 2016 launching my bespoke lingerie and sportswear consultancy service. Working with adidas and Stella McCartney on their post mastectomy sports bra was pretty special, a very proud moment.

I became an ambassador for a charity called Future Dreams. The charity opened a house in Kings Cross for anyone touched by breast cancer and I have set up a Bra Lounge there fitting women by appointment for breast prosthesis and bras.

What do you want to achieve next?

Establishing and maintaining a social media presence. I receive lots of private messages through my social channels for advice and often it can be difficult finding the time to answer all of these, but I do try. It made me realise how much I can help people especially with body confidence and in need of my expertise. For example, giving advice on what bras to wear for someone needing help with breast symmetry or helping a mum with a Teenager who is wearing a binder to hide their breasts and looking at alternatives.

What one piece of advice would you like to offer someone thinking of entering into your field?

Gain lots of experience by working in lots of different areas of the industry, be authentic, work hard and most importantly treat people fairly.

What is your favourite aspect about working in the local area?

I love being part of a community and even though I work all over its so nice meeting people and working in your local area.

What encouraged you to join Hampstead Hive and what has your experience within the Hivebeen like so far?

Another member told me about the Hive, and I thought what a great idea to have so many businesses in one place that you can access in your local area and recommend to others based on honest feedback.

Where can we go to find out more about your business/access your services?
