Redemption Roasters is coming to Hampstead

The Redemption Mission:

Redemption Roasters is the world's first prison-based coffee company. Existing to reduce reoffending through coffee, Redemption runs barista academies in four prisons alongside a community coffee school training people ‘at risk of crimeʼ. All of Redemptionʼs coffee is roasted at their roastery inside HMP The Mount, proving the company ethos that ʻgreat coffee can come from people and places you wouldnʼt expectʼ.

Having a job is the single most important factor that can prevent someone from reoffending. Prisoners are 50% more likely to reoffend if they leave prison without skills and a job. For the past 5 years, Redemption Roasters have been rewriting these stats by providing professional coffee industry training, both inside and outside of prison, which results in stable, long term employment. Approximately 18% of Redemptionʼs shop workforce is made up of graduates from prison training programmes. Hospitality offers flexible shi patterns, hands-on work and plenty of entry level job opportunities, making it the perfect industry for prison-leavers.

The New Hampstead Shop

Redemption Roasters' 10th coffee shop will be opening its doors in the final week of March. Marking the coffee company's North London debut, the shop is in the heart of Hampstead Heath. Conveniently located by the Heath on South End Road, the shop is just a two minute walk from the overground station and round the corner from The Royal Free Hospital.

The wide range of ethically-sourced speciality coffees will be complemented by a full brunch menu, delicious handmade sandwiches and a counter loaded with sweet treats.

Bright and spacious, the interior is flooded with light from both front and back windows. The shop seats just over 40 people, with window seats for people-watching, and cosy corners for catching up with friends. Dogs are always welcome, with puppuccinos available all round. Shop Manager, Ben, and his team are looking forward to opening the doors in just two weeks. No doubt this spot will be a new neighbourhood favourite.
