Hampstead Hive Member Spotlight - Parkmum

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS..

Hi, I’m Becky of Parkmum, a women’s health & fitness specialist, pre- and post-natal specialist, Functional Fitness, Peri to Menopausal and Pelvic Floor coach.

I am passionate about bridging the gap between pelvic health, fitness and how as females we need to train. My training methods combine a unique combination of breathing, corrective exercise and functional strength & conditioning.
I take an all-round approach to training and I am extremely passionate about removing the fear around exercise through the many different life stages. I am particularly passionate about prehab rather than rehab. Training to (1) age well and (2) continue to move freely is my mission.

Today, I coach many women and mothers with pelvic floor issues and abdominal separation to get results and regain strength. I offer both 1-2-1 training where I can come to your home, and small group classes both outside in Primrose Hill Park and inside in Belsize Park or Dartmouth Park. I want to get you strong, pain and problem free, whilst getting you back to the exercises you enjoy and to bring back that feeling of empowerment.
The secret to getting ahead is getting started.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST BUSINESS ACHIEVMENT SO FAR?

Giving many of the Women I have trained the tools and knowledge to become stronger, move more freely and not be scared to lift weights. Getting them to embrace fitness and not seeing it as a chore through regaining the enjoyment. Spreading the knowledge of how we as women work is the key to making changes to our life and aging well. I get a buzz when clients tell me they are now getting up and down from the ground without use of their hands, and that they are getting the joy back from movement.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE NEXT?

Next, I want to delve deeper into how are hormones impact our fitness and how to build this knowledge into our training, as well as learning more about the mobility of each of our joints in order to bespoke specific rehabilitation more effectively.

I plan to pull together a workshop to help de-stigmatise the Menopause and what it means for our bodies. When it comes to menopause knowledge is power and learning about it when you are younger (30-40’s) can help us be ready to calmly take on that wave.

WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU LIKE TO OFFER SOMEONE THINKING OF ENTERING INTO YOUR FIELD?

Always continue to learn new things – if you lose the curiosity, clients will see it as you losing the passion.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECT ABOUT WORKING IN THE LOCAL AREA?

I love the fact that I can walk to work, learn about many new local places from clients whether it be a recommendation for a kid’s party location, or local café restaurant recommendation or simply finding the best coffee shop. Seeing children who have attended my classes with their mothers as babies join the same school as my children and getting to catch up with the mums..

WHAT ENCOURAGED YOU TO JOIN HAMPSTEAD HIVE AND WHAT HAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE HIVEBEEN LIKE SO FAR?

I joined Hampstead Hive back when it started and I love the breadth and depth of the networking experience. I value being able to ask for help and learning new things from other local women in business. To have support as a solo woman in business is invaluable.
