Hampstead Hive Member Spotlight - Jessie Dyer

Happy Families Nannies

Tell us about your business, what services do you offer?

I am proud to say that I run the North London branch of an incredible, personable and well established nanny agency called Happy Families Nannies. We specialise in sourcing high quality childcare for families, including nannies (both permanent and short-term/temporary positions), live in and live out roles and parents helps.

What inspired you to start your business?

I used to be a nanny myself for many years. I adored every moment of my job as a nanny and I gained some wonderful long lasting friendships with the families that I worked for. I felt the most incredible sense of achievement knowing that the children that I cared for, had blossomed and evolved into happy, polite and well rounded little people. When I had my own children, I simply didn’t have the time to continue to be a permanent and full-time nanny. Therefore, I chose the next best thing! To run an agency whereby I can help other like minded childcarers to help find lovely families to work for. Equally, I want to help families like myself with young children, find that special person that is going to form a bond with their children and become an integral part of the family. I genuinely feel inspired everyday doing what I love, helping passionate, caring and skilled childcarers find their dream job and helping busy families find their Mary Poppins!

How long has your business been running for?

The agency started in 2016. Since then, we have been going from strength to strength and we have a match hundreds of nannies and families some of him have stayed for several years. There is nothing more rewarding than hearing from her nanny or a family that a match I made several years ago is still going strong! I believe I am personable, approachable, understanding and focused on supporting families and nannies alike and providing the best level of service I can.

What is your favourite aspect about working in the local area?

One of the reasons I love working in the local area is because I grew up in Hampstead! Our family grew up in a lovely home in Fitzjohn‘s Avenue. I love engaging with local families. I understand the pros and cons (for example. parking space challenges!) in the area, the wonderful selection of children’s activities and classes on offer. I often feel I can relate to my candidates and clients in so many ways. I will always help support prospective nannies visualise the role and area before they decide to go for an interview, not only do I want to find out about candidates professional experience but I like to find out more about them as people, their values, morals and character. Ultimately, the family and nanny have to have a mutual understanding, honest and open communication, willingness to unite and have similar core values.

Where do you see yourself and your business in five years time?

The childcare industry is constantly evolving and therefore there are always new opportunities to learn about and new regulations and information to be considered. I plan to continue and improve my own self development and skills. I like to imagine that Happy Families Nannies will be a leader in the London Nanny agency industry. An agency that promotes excellent values and morals, that will continue to offer a professional service that provides a unique and personal service to both families and nannies alike.

What encouraged you to join Hampstead Hive and what has your experience been like so far within the Hive?

I became part of the Hampstead mums group some time ago. I had noticed the Hampstead Hive group and loved what it stood for: helping to boost confidence, encouraging like-minded people and supporting those who have a business that they’re passionate about. I have felt very welcomed and feel a sense of sisterhood, support and care from the group. So far, it’s been a truly lovely experience!

Where can we go to find out more about your business/access your services?

If anyone would like some more information about my services, or even just wants to discuss their childcare options or just for a chat about the ins and outs of hiring a nanny and what to consider.
