Hampstead Hive Member Spotlight - Jessica Warne
Tell us about your business, what services do you offer
Hi, I am Jessica and I am a local clinical hypnotherapist. I specialise in supporting women throughout their transition to motherhood. Helping mothers find peace with the new layers of their identity, manage anxiety and overwhelm. I have had the privilege of working with many of the Hampstead Mums group members over the last few years and am inspired daily by the strength, tenacity and courage of these women.
I also provide various other hypnotherapy services including - smoking cessation, sleep promotion and past life regression.
What is your greatest business achievement?
Alongside my private practice I am the founder and chair trustee of London based charity Cocoon Family Support. With both elements of my work I have had countless experiences and achievements over the years that I am incredibly proud of, including my work being featured on This Morning, Victoria Derbyshire, Radio 4, LBC, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror and the Evening Standard. Sitting on advisory panels for: NCT, Best Beginnings, various NHS trusts, Camden Council Children’s Services, MIND, Royal College of GP’s, Royal College of Midwives and Maternal Mental Health Alliance.
But the two stand out experiences so far have to be the importance of my work being recognised with a party in mine and the charities honour at The Houses Of Parliament and a private audience with HRH Duchess of Cambridge, talking about the importance of supporting families in the postnatal period.
What do you want to achieve next?
Throughout my years of working with women in the antenatal and postnatal period, my eyes have been opened to the abundance of those that struggle but don’t particularly fall within the boundaries of a diagnosis of antenatal/postnatal depression. Thousands of women that have reached out for support that are managing a plethora of similar symptoms - feeling loss of identity, low mood, guilt, mood swings, underlying anxiety plus a wide range of physical symptoms.
Knowing these women do not have a diagnosable mental illness, I have spent the last couple of years researching and building a deeper understanding about what is ACTUALLY going on for these women during their transition to motherhood. All of these women have been experiencing a natural physiological process called MATRESCENCE and finding an understanding of this can enable them to better support themselves, abolish guilt and manage their symptoms appropriately.
Rather then taking the societal view that it is simply “postnatal hormones” and will pass, knowing that doing so can often lead to longer term issues and a potential development of postnatal mental illness. I believe all mothers have the right to this knowledge and with this in mind I have created a new course that enables women to understand themselves and their own matrescence experience, providing the tools needed to manage their symptoms and have as smooth a transition to motherhood as possible.
I am currently in the middle of a course, however my next course will be running from 16th June 2022 and bookings are now open. For more details about matresence, the course I run and how you might benefit I am running a FREE workshop on 5th May. You can book yourself in via this link
What is your favourite aspect about working in the local area?
Throughout my career I have experienced the most incredible support from the local community, particularly Hampstead Mums members. With Hampstead Mums even raising enough money via the 2016 Spring Fayre to fully fund Cocoon’s counselling service for a whole year! It has been a complete privilege to work with so many inspiring local women and one of my favourite things is walking around the local area and seeing women I have previously worked with, watching them be the confident mothers they deserve to be.
Where can we go to find out more about your business/access your services?
My face to face private practice is once again opening its doors from mid June (I have been working via ZOOM throughout the pandemic, this is still an option if preferable to you) and I am just opening my calendar to take bookings. I offer a free initial consultation prior to booking, to give you a chance to see how we can work together.
